Dear U of A community,

I want to thank all of you who have given me and Lakshmi such a generous welcome over the past few weeks, including earlier today during the gathering at Old Main. It was a beautiful morning, and – I am confident – a harbinger of bright mornings for our Wildcat Family.

As I begin my work in partnership with all of you, we already have much for which we can be proud as a community. We recruited a vibrant and diverse incoming class, saw an increase in faculty colleagues teaching these excellent students, improved our national ranking, and just this past Saturday, witnessed a thrilling win in Arizona Football's first Big 12 game.

These are just a few reminders of the great things happening at the U of A. Every day, our researchers make world-changing discoveries, and every year, our students earn life-changing degrees thanks to our world-renowned faculty. Decade after decade, we serve our state as its flagship, land-grant university.

The U of A is such a wonderful place because of all of you, our outstanding students, faculty, and staff, and our many supporters and deeply loyal alumni around the globe. And as proud as I am to join you because of the record of excellence you have created, I am even more optimistic about what we will accomplish together for the University of Arizona and for our vital mission. This university has limitless promise, and I believe even greater heights lie ahead of us.

As I said in my message to all of you last month, I look forward to our work together, and I thank you for your partnership and your dedication.

Bear Down,
Suresh
