Commencement and Success for Every Student

Dear students and colleagues,

It’s a special time of year here at the University of Arizona. Tomorrow, we will cap a week of graduation celebrations and convocations with the University’s 2025 Commencement. A record-setting number of family members, friends, and supporters will gather in Arizona Stadium to send off this year’s graduates in style, and I can’t wait to take part in this uniquely U of A tradition for the first time. More importantly, I’m looking forward to congratulating the Wildcats who will soon be our newest alumni.  

This is also a time for reflection on our purpose and promise as an institution, both of which are reflected in our commitment to our students. Commencement is the culmination of their Wildcat experience in one sense, celebrating the achievements of our graduates and certifying their preparation to pursue their goals. Their success will also be measured in what they go on to do next, especially how they use their knowledge, skills, and ambition to change the world for the better. When we talk about Success for Every Student in our strategic imperatives, Delivering on Our Promise, this is what we mean: their growth, their impact, and our legacy as an institution.
